Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do you recommend small businesses primarily manage their own social media?
A: Your social media is effectively your interactive communication with the outside world. It allows you the opportunity to tell your story, demonstrate your relevance to potential clients and highlight the reasons why they should do business with you. In B2B marketing to the hospitality industry, this personalised messaging is often more powerful than fancy marketing tactics. We are happy to provide recommendations, marketing ideas and content but we recommend that we work with you so that you ultimately take control of this powerful communication tool.
Q: But doesn’t social media take up too much time?
A: Like any activity in business, you need to spend an appropriate amount of time managing your social media to get the desired return. However, B2B marketing on social media is very different to other sectors that seem to require a much more intense involvement. Once your social media is properly set up, we would suggest that you would only need to spend 2 – 4 hours a week maintaining it. We can provide you with an outline of what you need to do.
Q: Why are you focusing on Instagram so much, rather than Facebook and Twitter?
A: Instagram is the social platform that hospitality businesses, and their typical clientele, are most active on. For suppliers to the hospitality industry, this is the most effective way to be seen. You have an opportunity to connect and interact with thousands of venues in a way that would be challenging and cost-prohibitive using traditional canvassing methods. And because Instagram uses pictures, the opportunity to tell a story and motivate contact is particularly appealing.
We would still recommend that most businesses have a properly managed Facebook presence, but develop shared content in line with the Instagram program. Businesses that intend to generate blog articles may also benefit from a Twitter presence.
Q: Do you offer social media management services?
A: Yes. But we do so in conjunction with you. Social media should not be an activity that is isolated from your other sales and marketing communication, so we ensure that we work with B2B suppliers to discuss their goals, plans and promotions, so as to develop and post meaningful content that is ‘on topic’ with your other marketing activities.
